I have problems with my AVR JTAG ICE MKII as AVRStudio won't recognise it.
Answer:
This can often happen to AVR JTAGICE mkII after a failed firmware update, which are horribly common with AVRStudio. The JTAGICE mkII can be put into bootloader mode by linking TDI and TDO on the output, applying Vcc and Ground to the output and starting the ICE. This will force AVRStudio to carry out a firmware update when you select JTAGICE MKII Update from Tools menu, or try Tools > Program AVR
