The DIL/NetPC DNP/2486 starter kit is also everything you need to get started with your 32-bit x86 SoC Linux- and Java-based embedded networking or embedded gateway application. The starter kit includes a DNP/2486 module with a pre-installed embedded Linux, the evaluation board DNP/EVA11-SV1, power supply, serial interface (null modem) cable, one CD-ROM with software and documentation and a printed user manual for the first steps with the starter kit.

STK29 Software
The starter kit CD-ROM comes with a full GNU cross tool chain for C/C++ software development and an Eclipse-based tool kit for Java development. The binary files of the C/C++ tool chain runs on an x86 Linux-based host (SuSE, Red Hat or other) and builds binary files for 32-bit x86 (IA-32) CPUs with Linux 2.6. The Java tools supports Windows-and Linux-based hosts. For using the DIL/NetPC DNP/2486 starter kit you need a PC-based development system. The minimal configuration for this system is a PC with Windows O/S and the HyperTerminal terminal emulation program. Hyperterminal requires a free COM port (COM1 or COM2) for the serial link between the DIL/NetPC DNP/2486 and the PC. For using the Ethernet link, your PC needs a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN adapter. The PC LAN interface needs support by a Telnet and FTP client.

Main Features
There are two versions of Linux available for the DIL/NetPC DNP/2486. 1. The pre-installed MIN-Linux (Minimal Linux), which is using a RAM disk image based on the Debian Etch (4.0). 2. The MAX-Linux (Maximal Linux), which is using the on-board 1 GByte NAND Flash memory for kernel and root filesystem. The MAX-Linux is also Debian-based. This full-featured x86 Linux offers Telnet, SSL/SSH, HTTP, FTP, Java 6 Runtime Environment and many more.
