Question:

My USB JTAGAVR Emulator fails firmware upgrade with the latest version of AVR Studio. I get the message 'No supported board found'

Answer:
This problem is due to AVRPROG utility, which does the firmware upgrade. It only recognises COM1 to COM4, and the USB port defaults to COM5. The solution is to change COM port setting of the unit in Device Manager. Plugin the JTAGAVR, then go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager. Double Click JTAG Cable 2 Serial in Ports section, and choose Port Settings > Advanced and change port to COM1..COM4. Unplug and re-plugin cable and try another firmware update.
