40-pin DIP PIC microcontroller, replacement for PIC16F877A, with Flash program memory, EEPROM and RAM data memory. Features Microchip RISC instruction set with only 35 instructions to learn, mostly single cycle execution. Harvard architecture with separate 14-bit program bus and 8-bit data bus for fast operation.
This is the more up to date version of the PIC16F887A. It is pin compatible and has same features so all PIC16F877 or PIC16F877A code will run without modification. If you have project examples for the earlier chip, they will run on PIC16F887 and it is much cheaper.
