PIC Training Kit
Special Introductory Price
Kanda PIC Kit is a complete PIC development and training kit for PIC16F and PIC18F PIC microcontrollers. Unlike other PIC kits, it includes everything you need to learn PIC programming from scratch.
Based around the Kanda Get Going with... PIC Microcontrollers book, it follows a logical sequence of training so that you become familiar with all aspects of PIC microcontrollers and how to program them. It starts with basics like number systems and logic, and progresses through learning about the PIC microcontroller and assembly language before moving on to C programming.
How to use the PICKit2 programmer and Debugger, with the Kanda PIC board and MPLAB development software, to write and debug programs effectively is fully covered.
The PIC course covers lots of topics after the basics, including keypads, LCD, UART, ADC and PWM. Most importantly its systematic approach and clear examples will allow you to go on to your own projects and to understand the many code examples available on the web.
The Kanda PIC Kit Trainer is also ideal for PIC development as the hardware supports most 8, 14, 20, 28 and 40-pin PIC microcontrollers in PIC16F and PIC18F families, with easy access to all peripheral functions.
- Get Going with... PIC Microcontrollers book on CD

MPLAB and PICkit2 programmer work in all Windows Operating Systems, including 64-bit versions. It also works in WINE for Linux, and a separate MPLAB X is available free from Microchip for 32 and 64-bit Linux systems.
PIC Microcontroller Support
MPLAB and PICkit2 programmer and debugger have support for all PIC Microcontrollers. The board supports most 8, 14, 20, 28 and 40-pin microcontrollers.
Typical supported PIC device pin-outs – check with your device datasheet that your device is this pinout.
PICKit Board Features
The board has 3 sockets, one for 8, 14 and 20-pin PIC microcontrollers, one for 28-pin and one for 40-pin. As well as power and clock circuitry, all ports are brought out to pin headers for easy connection of included keypad and LCD and other accessories or your own prototypes. It has 8 switches and LEDs and also supports UART, I2C EEPROMs and ADC circuits.
The PIC16F887 and PIC18F4221 microcontrollers included in the kit both fit into the 40-pin socket. PIC16F887 is the recommended replacement for the popular PIC16F877A.
MPLAB and PICkit2 Programmer and Debugger
MPLAB is an excellent development environment with editor, assembler, C compilers and simulator all built-in making writing PIC code really simple. The PICkit2 programmer and debugger supplied can be run directly from MPLAB environment allowing you to single step through your code and watch the changes for easy debugging.
It also operates as a programmer for loading the PIC microcontroller with your finished code, and this can be run from MPLAB or from the dedicated programming software included on the CD, which is easier and quicker for production programming.
This is the complete PIC training kit that includes LCD and Keypad module. The package is also available at a lower cost without these accessories if your budget is limited:
PIC Starter Kit
If you already have a PIC programmer, the board is also available on its own, with connector for PICkit programmers and ICD2 debuggers (RJ11)
PIC Development Board
Extra PIC microcontrollers are also available, in Chips,ICs and Modules category.
The only extra item required is a 9-15V power supply, with 2.1mm barrel, centre positive, 300mA minimum, see related products
